The last few months Global Happiness Organization has been involved in the Global Awareness in Action (GAIA)-project. GAIA brings together multi-stakeholder groups from the cities of Malmö (Sweden), Newcastle (UK), Nieuwegein and Utrecht (The Netherlands) to collaborate and learn during a period of three years (2013-2015).
The GAIA-project seeks to develop innovative examples of how urban areas can respond to the twin challenges of unsustainable development and growing inequalities. It aims to empower local authorities, NGOs, academic institutions and businesses to engage urban citizens to take actions for tackling global challenges.
In Malmö GHO is helping out with an exhibition at the Malmö Festival in August this year. The aim of the exhibition is to get people to interactively discover that it is possible to live a climate-and eco-friendly life without sacrificing your well-being.
GHO was also represented on the GAIA meeting in Newcastle a few weeks ago and shared information about happiness connected to climate and environmental issues. The next GAIA meeting will take place in Nieuwegein at the end of this year.
