Pharrell Williams named the US Happiness Promoter of the Year

Today, Global Happiness Organization is pleased to announce that singer Pharrell Williams has been named the US Happiness Promoter of the Year for 2014. Famous for his November 2013 song "Happy," which rose to high fame this past year, and popularized what it means to be happy.

Spreading happiness is of course central to GHO's mission, because understanding the level of happiness of sentient beings- be they humans or nonhuman animals - is crucial in order to reduce suffering for these sentient beings. By both better understanding what makes us happy and by promoting happiness, sizeable leaps and bounds can be made in making the world a more ethical place.

Using memorable phrases like "a hot air balloon that could go to space" and "a room without a roof," Pharrell's hit single sold over 6 million copies in the United States, and over 12 million worldwide. His hit song was featured in the soundtrack of "Despicable Me 2," and the song leaves people feeling just as ecstatic and childlike as the small yellow minions the movie features.

Pharrell's song "Happy" is more than just catchy. It's an anthem celebrating the lifestyle of happiness GHO wants to further. After all, we want you to "clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth."
