The United Arab Emirates has previously declared they want to become the world's happiest country in 2021.

During Wednesday they took another step toward that goal by announcing the creation of a minister of state for happiness. The minister will be Ohood Al Roumi, who previously worked in the Prime Minister's staff.

In her new role Al Roumi will create and enforce laws and regulations to improve the wellbeing of the population. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister, ruler of Dubai and the vice president of the UAE twittered:

"National happiness isn't a wish. Plans, projects, programs, indices will inform the work of our ministries to achieve happiness,".

Global Happiness Organization is a major partner of the United Arab Emirates to help them achieve their happiness goals.
